This nineteenth-century pastel on paper depicts a serene river landscape with mountains and trees under a cloudy sky. The work is presented in a period gilded oval frame decorated with acanthus and ribbon motifs. The backing consists of a contoured wood panel secured within the primary frame.Measures 14 x 25 inches.The gilded frame shows significant cracking and separation at the decorative joints. The pastel exhibits minor foxing and surface discoloration in the sky area. The wood panel backing shows typical age-related wear and dust.
