J. F. Herring Fox Hunting: The Run Engraving

This large-format 19th-century hand-colored lithograph is after John Frederick Herring Senior and titled The Run. The work was likely lithographed by J. West Giles as part of a series of four hunting scenes. A cutout in the decorative mat reveals the printed text J. F. HERRING'S SENR FOX HUNTING followed by the title The Run in cursive script. No plate marks are visible due to the tight matting. The print is housed in a substantial figured bird's-eye maple frame featuring a silvered inner slip.Framed dimensions: 34 x 44 inches.The print exhibits visible vertical creases and possible old repairs to the paper substrate. General paper toning and scattered foxing are present throughout, although the hand-applied coloring remains well-preserved and vibrant. The frame shows moderate condition issues, including surface scratches, separation at the mitered corners, and small losses to the wood veneer.
