This large-format hand-colored engraving with aquatint depicts The Meet from the Fox Hunting series after John Frederick Herring, Sr. A distinct rectangular plate mark is visible around the perimeter of the image. The lower margin features the printed inscription J. F. HERRING'S SENR. FOX HUNTING. with the title The Meet rendered in cursive script. The work is presented in a wide burl-veneered bird's-eye maple frame with a hand-lined French mat.Overall framed dimensions: 31. 5 x 42.5 inches.The paper exhibits generalized toning and scattered foxing throughout, most apparent in the sky and margin areas. There is a visible surface abrasion and loss to the paper in the lower center margin directly below the script title. The frame displays expected wear including surface scuffs, minor chips to the veneer, and slight gaps at the mitered corner joints.
