This nineteenth-century hand-colored aquatint and engraving is after John Frederick Herring Sr. (British, 1795 to 1865), titled The Death from a fox hunting series. The lower margin is inscribed with the text J. F. HERRING'S SENR FOX HUNTING and the title The Death in cursive script within a cartouche. The print is housed in a bird's eye maple veneer frame with a silvered inner fillet and a decorative mat featuring ink-ruled lines.Frame height: approximately 34 inches. Frame Width: approximately 44 inchesThe print exhibits vertical creasing, overall paper toning, and scattered foxing and staining throughout the sky and margins. The frame shows age-related wear, including nicks, surface abrasions, and separation at the mitered corners.
