A large and colorful hand painted porcelain Japanese Imari bowl decorated with flowers and fabric designs. The bowl has been hand painted in polychrome enamels and under glaze cobalt in designs of flowers, Buddhist scrolls, and fabric designs. The mouth rim has a line of underglaze cobalt. The raised foot is unglazed. The base is glazed. The bowl has no hallmarks or labels. MEASUREMENTS 9 5/8 in (24.4 cm) diameter x 4 in (10.2 cm) tall. Weighs 2 lbs 10.0 oz. CONDITION The bowl has no breaks, chips, or hairlines, and it rings like a bell. There are manufacture errors, such as blue spots, a glaze miss, and a glazed-over kiln crack on the base. The glazes are still bright and colorful, although there is slight wear to the central well. A large decorative Japanese Imari bowl to use or add to a collection.
