This is a Magic Tree House collection by Mary Pope Osborne, with the nonfiction Research Guides written by Mary Pope Osborne and Will Osborne and illustrated by Sal Murdocca. All are Scholastic paperback editions. The older “Research Guide” books were later marketed as Magic Tree House Fact Trackers, so these earlier Scholastic-cover editions make a nice coordinated group. The Research Guides are nonfiction companions to Magic Tree House adventures and introduce younger readers to real-world history, science and nature. Topics include dinosaurs and fossils; medieval knights, castles and armor; ancient Egypt, mummies and pyramids; pirates and sailing; planets, stars and space travel; and rainforest plants, animals and ecosystems. Carnival at Candlelight is a fictional Merlin Mission adventure set in historic Venice, Italy. This would be a useful homeschool, classroom or independent-reading bundle because it combines adventure reading with educational nonfiction. This book collection includes: 1. Dinosaurs, Research Guide #1, first Scholastic printing November 2000. 2. Knights and Castles, Research Guide #2, first Scholastic printing January 2001. 3. Mummies and Pyramids, Research Guide, first Scholastic printing September 2001. 4. Space, Research Guide, first Scholastic printing October 2002. 5. Pirates, Research Guide, first Scholastic printing January 2003. 6. Rain Forests, Research Guide, first Scholastic printing January 2003. 7. Carnival at Candlelight, first Scholastic printing September 2006. Overall Good used condition. The books are complete with bindings intact. Covers remain colorful and presentable but show varying amounts of normal classroom and reading wear, including rubbing, scratches, edge and corner wear, small bends, creases and some spine wear. Page edges show light handling and age discoloration on some volumes. Interiors are generally clean and readable. Carnival at Candlelight appears to have somewhat more exterior edge and spine wear. Overall, no major water damage or extensive writing.
