Title: Abstract Drip Composition in Red, Black, and White Technique: Oil on masonite Measures: 23 x 31 inches (58.4 x 78.7 cm) Year: 1951 Condition: Appears in good overall condition based on the photographs supplied, displaying vibrant coloration and pronounced variations in paint application. The surface features overlapping drips, splatters, and irregularly distributed pigment, with visible textural differences throughout. No obvious major paint losses or structural damage are apparent in the photographs. Presented in a black wooden frame with minor surface wear. The reverse reveals a brown masonite support with paint residue along the edges and visible signs of handling. Not examined out of the frame. Condition is described from the photographs supplied. Please review all photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of the condition description. Provenance: Sold from a gallery in 2006 to a private collector in Asia, the work remained there until now. Visual Description: A dynamic abstract composition dominated by vivid red, black, and white, with occasional accents of pale blue and green. The surface is covered with an intricate network of intersecting lines, splattered pigment, and irregular drips that create a sense of movement and visual intensity. Bold black gestures traverse the composition diagonally and horizontally, contrasting with energetic red passages and fine white linear markings. The overlapping layers establish a complex visual rhythm without a conventional focal point, encouraging the viewer's eye to move continuously across the painted surface. The composition evokes the gestural vocabulary of Abstract Expressionism and action painting, emphasizing spontaneity, layered texture, and the relationship between controlled movement and apparent chance. This composition reflects stylistic elements commonly associated with major figures in modern and contemporary art.
