Title: Woman with Orange Hair and Lattice Bow Technique: Oil on canvas Measures: 31 x 23 inches (approximately 78.7 x 58.4 cm) Year: 1968 Condition: Appears in good overall condition. The painted surface displays vivid, saturated colors, bold outlines, and visible brushwork with the canvas texture apparent in places. Minor surface wear and age-related imperfections may be present. Presented in a black frame with a stepped molding profile. Condition is described from the photographs supplied. Please review all photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of the condition description. Provenance: Private collection, Denver, Colorado; reportedly acquired through a private transaction during the early 1980s. Earlier history was not documented. Visual Description: A vibrant Cubist-inspired bust portrait of a woman whose face combines profile and frontal views, set against a bright pink background with a violet shadow at the left. Her pale face is outlined in blue, with two large green eyes framed by dark lashes, green brows, and a zigzag mouth in green and blue. Decorative pink and green scroll motifs adorn her cheek, while a yellow patch at the profile edge bears a small ornamental design. Voluminous orange hair, patterned with a red crosshatched lattice, falls in rounded layers to her shoulders, crowned by a large bow in yellow, orange, and brown lattice with gray outlines. Her blue bodice is edged in green and black, with two green circles ringed in ochre. Rendered in the Cubist style of Pablo Picasso, the painting emphasizes simultaneous viewpoints, decorative patterning, and exuberant color, recalling the artist’s celebrated late portraits of the 1960s. This composition reflects stylistic elements commonly associated with major figures in modern and contemporary art.
