Title: Seated Woman with Palm Fronds Technique: Lithograph on paper Measures: 21 x 17 inches (approximately 53.3 x 43.2 cm) Year: Undated Condition: Appears in good overall condition. The print displays even, well-registered color with crisp, clearly defined linear elements and clean white margins. Minor surface wear and age-related imperfections may be present. Numbered “12/100” in pencil in the lower left margin, with a pencil signature-style inscription in the lower right margin. Presented under glazing in a bird’s-eye maple-toned wood frame. Condition is described from the photographs supplied. Please review all photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of the condition description. Provenance: Private collection, Vienna; reportedly held in private hands since the 1970s. Specific prior ownership was not provided. Visual Description: A striking figurative print depicting a seated female nude rendered in flowing tan lines against a deep taupe-brown ground. The figure is composed of bold, simplified contours, with one arm raised overhead, rounded breasts marked by small circles, and legs drawn up and folded beneath her. Decorative striped and dotted patterns animate the torso, while radiating, feather-like palm fronds surround the figure on both sides. A fringe of grass-like strokes runs along the lower edge, grounding the composition. Rendered in the style of Pablo Picasso, the work emphasizes economy of line, rhythmic patterning, and the sensual stylization of the female form, recalling the artist’s celebrated linocuts and prints of the late 1950s and early 1960s. This composition reflects stylistic elements commonly associated with major figures in modern and contemporary art.
