Title: Red, White and Black Drip Composition Technique: Oil on masonite Measures: 23 x 31 inches (approximately 58.4 x 78.7 cm) Year: 1951 Condition: Appears in good overall condition. The painted surface displays vivid colors, dense layers of dripped and poured paint, and raised, glossy splatters with visible variations in texture. Minor surface wear and age-related imperfections may be present. Presented in a black frame with a rounded molding profile. Condition is described from the photographs supplied. Please review all photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of the condition description. Provenance: Private collection, Madrid; reportedly acquired by private transaction in the 1960s. Previous ownership details were conveyed verbally by the consignor. Visual Description: A dynamic Abstract Expressionist-inspired composition built from an intricate web of dripped, poured, and flung paint across a pale beige ground. Bold skeins of white sweep diagonally across the surface, interlaced with dense networks of black lines and vivid splashes of red. Heavier pools of white and red gather in clusters, while fine threads of black and white trail across the entire composition from edge to edge. The overlapping layers create a sense of rhythm, energy, and depth, with no single focal point to anchor the eye. Rendered in the Abstract Expressionist style of Jackson Pollock, the painting emphasizes gestural freedom, all-over composition, and spontaneous paint application, recalling the artist’s celebrated drip paintings of the late 1940s and early 1950s. This composition reflects stylistic elements commonly associated with major figures in modern and contemporary art.
