Title: Musical Flowers and Surreal Figures Technique: Mixed media on paper Measures: 21.5 x 33 cm (8.5 x 13 inches) Year: Undated Inscription: Bears a “Dalí”-style inscription in the lower-left corner. Condition: Visible light surface wear, minor handling marks and slight paper toning. Small surface irregularities and variations in the applied media may be present. Condition should be confirmed through firsthand examination. Provenance: From a private Arizona collection. According to family recollection, the work was acquired with a group of Surrealist-style artworks during travels to Figueres and Cadaqués, Spain, in 1992. It subsequently remained in the family’s possession. Precise acquisition details and earlier ownership records were not preserved. Visual Description: An elongated flowering plant rises vertically through the composition, its blossoms transformed into fantastical birdlike forms with sweeping green and yellow arcs. Musical notes and staff-like symbols appear around the flowers, while delicately drawn figures, a keyboard instrument and architectural fragments occupy the lower register. The combination of botanical imagery, music and dreamlike transformations creates an enigmatic Surrealist scene. The imaginative symbolism, unusual spatial relationships and fluid draftsmanship evoke the visual language associated with Salvador Dalí. This work is rendered in the style of Salvador Dalí. This composition reflects stylistic elements commonly associated with major figures in modern and contemporary art.
