Children Book Litho Cover E Veale. This scarce late 19th-century Victorian children's book booklet titled "The First Trousers" features vibrant chromolithograph cover art illustrated by celebrated author and illustrator Palmer Cox (1840–1924), world-famous creator of "The Brownies." With stories written by E. Veale ("The Fairy Tales Authoress"), the cover depicts an anthropomorphic bear family dressing a cub in his first pair of trousers while a fox looks on, making this an exceptional piece for collectors of Palmer Cox material, 19th-century children's literature, chromolithography, and antique illustrated booklets. Published by Hubbard Publishing Co., copyrighted 1897, chromolithographed paper booklet cover, marked "Illustrations by Palmer Cox" and "Stories by E. Veale" alongside publication credits along the lower margin, measures approximately 8 x 10.5 inches. Displays expected signs of age including light surface toning, minor edge creasing, faint corner softening, and subtle handling wear, though the color lithography remains rich, bright, and highly displayable; no major tears, severe foxing, or missing paper loss observed. See photos for close-up details.
