Quarantine Sign Waterford NY Cardstock 12x7. This original early-to-mid 20th-century public health quarantine placard features stark, bold typography declaring "COMMUNICABLE DISEASE - No person shall enter these premises because of Communicable Disease within." Issued by the local government authority in Waterford, New York (marked "BOARD OF HEALTH WATERFORD, N. Y." along the lower margin), these original residential posting signs were historically used during outbreaks of contagious illness such as diphtheria, scarlet fever, or influenza, carrying immense cross-over appeal for collectors of medical history, public health artifacts, local New York ephemera, and antique graphic signage. Issued for the Board of Health (Waterford, NY), estimated c. 1910s–1930s, letterpress printed black ink on heavy cream cardstock, measures approximately 12 x 7 inches per user specifications. Displays expected signs of age including widespread light foxing, scattered age-toning spots, minor edge wear, and subtle corner softening, though the bold lettering remains exceptionally strong, clear, and fully legible; no major tears, heavy fold creases, pinholes, or paper loss observed. See photos for close-up details.
