Phil Clark (American, 1925–2023) Cowboys with cattle Scene, Western Ranch. Art: 9.75 x 19.5. Frame: 19.5 x 30 in. Condition: Very good. Watercolor on paper, signed lower right P. Clark and dated 1990. We couldn't quite make out the title on the verso. A finely observed Western ranch scene depicting cowboys at work in a corral during with cattle, rendered with Clark’s characteristic economy of line and subtle washes of earth tones and cool shadows. The composition is anchored by mounted figures and a cluster of cattle, with fencing elements creating a strong linear perspective that draws the eye into the dusty, sunlit distance. The artist’s confident brushwork and restrained palette effectively convey both the atmosphere and rhythm of working ranch life. Phil Clark is recognized for his evocative portrayals of the American West, often focusing on authentic ranching subjects executed with immediacy and clarity. His works are appreciated for their narrative quality and understated sophistication. Provenance: From the estate of Moira McCracken, an international equine sales executive based in Georgia. She had a home of beautiful art. She was a lifelong equestrian, maintained a passion for animals. At her passing she owned four horses and six dogs. She was the widow of John McCracken who established IBM in Edinburgh, Scotland.
