Chinese Shiwan pottery figurine, likely depicting a Luohan or immortal figure such as Tieguai Li or Ji Gong. This type of ceramic is known for its lifelike figures and rich, deep glazes, often produced in the Shiwan kilns of the Guangdong province. The figure is seated on a double gourd (hulu), which is a symbol of longevity and good fortune in Chinese culture. The glazes are applied in a style that highlights the texture of the robes and the contrasting unglazed skin. Shiwan ware has a long history, with production dating back to at least the East Han tombs period. Condition: Very good with no visible chips or cracks. Please be sure and view all photos for condition. From a fine Chinese owned estate. Congratulations to the winning bidder!
