An impressive set of three graduated bronze architectural candlesticks, each modeled as a classical Ionic column with a tall, subtly tapering shaft rising from a molded circular foot and stepped square plinth. The capitals are particularly attractive, featuring prominent scroll-form volutes with cast foliate detailing and square candle platforms above. Recessed sockets at the tops accommodate candles. Early to mid 20th century. Dimensions: 21, 18, and 15 inches high; bases approximately 4 × 4 inches; tops approximately 4.5 × 2.5 inches. The graduated heights of 15, 18, and 21 inches give the set a dramatic architectural presence when displayed together. The bronze has developed an appealing dark brown patina with lighter rubbed highlights and areas of natural variation, emphasizing the classical detailing. The design draws directly upon the ancient Greek Ionic order, distinguished by the characteristic paired volutes of its capital. Classical column forms have a long history in Neoclassical decorative arts and were frequently adapted into candlesticks and lighting. A handsome and substantial decorative set with excellent scale—the graduated configuration makes these especially effective on a mantel, console, dining table, or as architectural accents in a traditional or Neoclassical interior. Condition: Good overall vintage condition with scattered surface wear, scratches, rubbing, oxidation/patina variation, dust and minor discoloration consistent with age and use. Some wax residue may be present within the candle sockets. The auction house considers the photographs to be the condition report. Provenance: From a private estate near Atlanta.
