Original Rebecca Crowell mixed-media abstract work titled “Poem,” dated 2005. Wilde Meyer Gallery documentation identifies the work as mixed media and measures approximately 12” x 12”. The square composition features layered earthy olive, ochre, brown and muted gold tones with numerous fine linear markings, scratches and gestural surface details characteristic of Crowell’s highly worked abstract surfaces. Crowell is an established American abstract artist with an MFA in Painting from Arizona State University and is known for experimental techniques involving layered paint, cold wax medium, scraping, gouging, burnishing and selective removal of material. The reverse is signed/titled “POEM ©2005 Rebecca Crowell.” Accompanied by Wilde Meyer Gallery, Tucson, Arizona documentation identifying the artist, title, medium and dimensions, along with an artist biography describing Crowell’s materials and techniques.
