This painted portrait miniature depicts King Ludwig II of Bavaria in coronation attire within a rectangular inlaid bone frame. The work features a decorative gilt metal floral bezel and a painted signature that appears as M. Berger, Bergenor Burges. Unknown. at the lower right. The verso is backed with a fragment of printed Latin text. The frame measures 5 by 4.25 inches. The bone frame shows multiple natural age-related cracks and fissures with scattered yellowing and staining. The paper backing exhibits wear, foxing, and minor losses.
