This Vietnamese polychrome glazed ceramic garden stool is molded in the form of a caparisoned elephant. It features an ornate saddlecloth with blue scrollwork and a stylized black character, standing on a rectangular plinth with a Greek key border. The interior base bears an impressed rectangular mark reading MADE IN V.N. BY NGUYEN-HUE EXPORT. 21 x 18 x 8.5 inches. A significant chip is present on the green-glazed edge of the base plinth. The surface exhibits overall fine crazing, minor glaze skips, and light wear consistent with use.
