Ken Johns, pastel and charcoal drawing on toned paper, depicting a nude from the back, 21" x 14" (Framed). Kenneth (Ken) William Johns (d.July 10 2005) Johns served as an Observer in the Fleet Air Arm of the Royal Navy during WWII. He had a career in banking that saw him living in Barbados, Montreal, Ottawa, Dartmouth, St. John's NL, and Halifax NS. Following his retirement in 1983, Ken obtained a degree in Fine Arts from Mount Allison University in Sackville NB. While primarily known for his watercolours, landscapes and maritime scenes, this piece represents his academic figure drawing and studio life-study work dating it to his time at Mount Allison University in the mid 1980s. In addition to the New Brunswick provincial art collection - collectionArtNB - Johns had exhibitions at the New Brunswick Museum, Saint John Art Gallery, UNB Saint John and also in the UK.
