Arthur Lloy (1929–1986), oil on board, “Early Summer Day", 10" x 12", signed lower right and signed, titled and dated on reverse, 1986 ( framed). LLoy was Halifax-born artist Arthur Lloy studied at the Nova Scotia College of Art and St. Mary’s University, developing a style influenced by the Group of Seven, Tom Thomson, and the French Impressionists. Celebrated for his poetic Maritime landscapes and seascapes, his work was exhibited at Zwicker’s Gallery and featured in a 1966 solo show at Ten Mile House Gallery. Lloy was a member of the Nova Scotia Society of Artists and worked with the Department of National Defence in Halifax.
