Willard Morse Mitchell (1879–1955), Canadian, miniature watercolour, “The Church at Tadoussac, P.Q.”, depicting the historic church at Tadoussac, Quebec. Signed lower right and titled with additional storyline information verso. Housed in a distinctive hand-carved wooden frame made by the artist, 3" x 4". Mitchell was renowned for his miniature watercolours of Canadian landscapes, historic sites and communities, many presented in frames he carved himself. Willard Morse Mitchell was a Canadian artist and architect born in Saint John, New Brunswick. He worked for many years in Amherst, Nova Scotia, before moving to Montreal. Mitchell is best known for his finely detailed miniature watercolours depicting Canadian landscapes, historic buildings and communities. He also carved many of his own distinctive wooden frames.
