Decorative Plate with Kingfisher and Lotus Pond Scene. <br><br>D:21.7cm<br><br>The main scene features red lotus flowers and emerald green lotus leaves, with two kingfishers perched on reed stalks, complemented by locusts and other insects, forming a complete ecological scene of a lotus pond. From the 18th century onward, European nobility were obsessed with Chinese floral-and-bird porcelain. Meissen drew compositional inspiration from Guangcai and Qing Wucai porcelain, while localizing and refining its color palette.
