Multiple goats (rams, ewes and lambs) surround the base, with wild flowers and foliage scattered across the ground. The theme derives from the popular Arcadian pastoral aesthetic prevalent across Europe in the 18th century, symbolizing the peaceful, leisurely idyllic life idealized by the nobility. The entire group is formed as an integrated molded composition refined by hand trimming, hand-painted with polychrome overglaze enamels. This type of group porcelain sculpture demands extraordinary craftsmanship.
