Memorial Jewellery with Emerald, Rubies and Human-Hair-Work Braid .

Bracelet Length:14.5cm Wt:8.48g

Victorian memorial jewellery, 19th century. The chain is woven from human hair, fitted with a cast 18-carat-gold serpent-form mount. The serpent's head is centred by a square-cut emerald, its eyes set with two small rubies; fine chased scales texture decorate the gold surface. Serpent motifs were a quintessential Victorian symbol of eternal devotion. Hair-work was a popular memorial-mourning jewellery technique of the era, crafted from the hair of loved ones. The gold mount shows wear consistent with age; gemstones are intact; the woven-hair braid remains firm, overall in good preserved condition.

ALL PROPERTY IS SOLD AS IS, WHERE IS, WITH NO RETURNS OR CANCELLATIONS.

Additional photographs and condition reports may be provided upon request as a courtesy only.
