Forget-Me-Not and Seed-Pearl Marquise-Shaped Sentimental Brooch .

4.29*2.77cm Wt:11.13g

Georgian-era Neoclassical sentimental antique brooch crafted in 18-carat gold, of marquise outline. The centre is executed in micro-mosaic depicting a basket of forget-me-not blossoms, meticulously assembled from minute hand-cut glass tesserae upon a deep-blue ground. A fine border of natural seed-pearls encircles the mosaic panel, finished with blue-enamel edging. The forget-me-not was an iconic sentimental motif of the Georgian era, symbolising faithfulness and remembrance. Owing to exacting requirements for materials and master craftsmanship, this traditional micro-mosaic technique largely fell into disuse in subsequent periods. The delicate glass tesserae are highly vulnerable to damage and loss over centuries; well-preserved intact examples are consequently exceedingly scarce. An important collectible jewel of Neoclassical-era jewellery art.

ALL PROPERTY IS SOLD AS IS, WHERE IS, WITH NO RETURNS OR CANCELLATIONS.

Additional photographs and condition reports may be provided upon request as a courtesy only.
