Pheasant-Form Wax Seal, With Original Period Leather Case, Circa 1860-1900 .

H:3.93cm W:4.4cm Wt:27.11g

19th-century European silver-gilt wax seal, presented with its original contemporary red-leather case, circa 1860-1900. The seal handle is modelled as a fully-rounded pheasant, with finely-chased detailed plumage, one eye inset with a deep-red gemstone. Engraved matrix located to the underside. The accompanying leather case has silk interior with gilt-stamped heraldic maker's mark. Wear to gilding commensurate with age; silk lining shows yellowing, minor stains and wear. Figural wax-seals are relatively scarce; survival of its original period case is exceptional, overall in good preserved condition.

ALL PROPERTY IS SOLD AS IS, WHERE IS, WITH NO RETURNS OR CANCELLATIONS.

Additional photographs and condition reports may be provided upon request as a courtesy only.
