LaChance, Georges (American 1888-1964). 12 1/2" x 12 7/8" (Board). 14 1/2" x 15" (Frame). Signed in corner by Indiana artist Georges LaChance. Painting is well preserved, no paint cracking or chipping. Georges LaChance was a prominent member of the Brown County Art colony and President of the Brown County Art Guild. Born in Utica, New York and settled in Nashville, Indiana 1930s. He studied at the St. Louis Art School. He was a charter member of the Brown County Art Gallery Association. He exhibited at the Marshall Field Gallery, and Art Institute of Chicago; Sheldon Swope Art Gallery, Terre Haute, Indiana; and the Hoosier Salon, from 1926-1961.
