Dimension: 17 1/2"H. The focal point of the vase is a powerful, high-relief carving of a hawk (taka) or eagle. The eagle is depicted with highly detailed, textured feathers, a sharp hooked beak, and intense eyes, perched firmly upon a rugged tree branch. In Japanese culture, the hawk is a classic symbol of military strength, precision, and noble status. Surrounding the bird are beautifully sculpted pine tree branches (matsu) and foliage clusters cascading down the neck and body of the vase, adding a naturalistic backdrop that frames the wildlife theme. The vase features a classic pear-shaped or baluster form with a bulbous lower body that tapers up to a slender neck. The lip finishes in an elegant scalloped or petaled flared rim, adding a soft, floral geometry to the silhouette. an authentic incised square seal mark cast directly into the center underside of the bronze vase.
