Early electric Laun-Dry-Ette washing machine manufactured by The Laundryette Manufacturing Company of Cleveland, Ohio, featuring a large ribbed copper wash tub mounted within a substantial black-painted metal support frame. The machine retains its domed galvanized-metal lid with lifting handle, side carrying handles, foot-operated mechanism, and associated lower mechanical components. The original manufacturer’s plate identifies it as the “LAUN-DRY-ETTE Electric Washing Machine” and advertises that it “Washes and Dries Without a Wringer,” with U.S. patent dates including September 3, 1918, April 8, 1919, and December 2, 1919, placing this example in the early decades of electric household laundry equipment. The copper body has developed an attractive aged surface with oxidation, spotting, discoloration and verdigris, while the galvanized lid and iron frame show corresponding wear, oxidation, scratches and surface patina from age and use. Mechanical and electrical operation has not been verified. Measures 38.5"H x 3O"W x 34"D.
