Fine late 19th century silverplate jewelry or trinket box by Wilcox Silver Plate Co., designed in an elongated rectangular casket form raised on small rounded feet and retaining its original key. The exterior is richly decorated with alternating vertical striped panels framed by scrolling floral ornament, while the hinged lid is embellished with finely engraved linear decoration, foliate scrollwork, and a central vacant cartouche. The underside bears the Wilcox Silver Plate Co. maker’s mark and pattern number 0059. Opening to a pale aqua satin-lined interior, the box has an especially elegant presentation and strong Victorian decorative appeal. The silverplate exhibits scattered scratches, rubbing, tarnish, and several small dents consistent with age and use, while the interior lining shows staining, discoloration, and general age-related wear. Measures 3.5" H x 12.5" W x 4" D.
