Circa 1930 American Art Deco molded art glass vases from the Phoenix/Consolidated Martele tradition, each featuring richly sculpted naturalistic bird and botanical decoration. The larger frosted colorless vase is decorated in bold relief with a chickadee perched among tall reeds and overlapping foliage, its softly opalescent satin surface emphasizing the dimensional molded design. The companion warm coral-amber vase, documented as Martele pattern no. 2588, features a hummingbird in flight surrounded by trumpet-shaped blossoms, leafy vines, and floral sprays across its compact pillow-form body. Together the two pieces beautifully illustrate the highly decorative bird-and-floral motifs associated with Consolidated’s Martele glass of the late 1920s and early 1930s. The chickadee vase exhibits light surface wear, scattered scratches, minor manufacturing irregularities, and small fleabites or roughness along portions of the rim and base edges. The hummingbird vase has a noticeable shallow chip along the upper rim, along with scattered surface wear, light marks, minor residue or discoloration, and expected manufacturing irregularities consistent with age. Measures 6"H x 2.5"W x 4"D & 5.5"H x 3.5"W x 2.5"D.
