An extensive original-era collection of late-1980s and early-1990s non-sport trading cards, bringing together several of the defining comic-book, science-fiction, motion-picture and television properties of the period. Preserved as a large collector-built accumulation comprising numerous substantial card runs, duplicate groups and assorted singles, the collection offers an unusually broad cross-section of the early-1990s non-sport card boom and considerable appeal for franchise collectors, set builders, dealers and enthusiasts of vintage pop-culture memorabilia.<br><br>Prominently represented is Impel's DC Comics Cosmic Cards Inaugural Edition, recognizable by its distinctive silver-gray borders and illustrated comic-book imagery. Numerous cards from the Hero Heritage, Villain Heritage, Earth's Mightiest Heroes and Earth's Mightiest Villains sections are visible, with examples including Superman, Lex Luthor, Black Manta, Ocean Master, Phobia, Jade and other characters from across the DC Universe. The inaugural DC Cosmic issue comprised a broad survey of DC's heroes, villains, battles and classic comic imagery and remains one of the most recognizable comic-card productions of the early 1990s.<br><br>Also present in quantity are 1991 Impel Terminator 2: Judgment Day trading cards, featuring photographic imagery and scenes associated with James Cameron's landmark science-fiction film. Several substantial T2 stacks are visible, including card #107, "Steel Fingers Aim the M-79," together with examples of the distinctive T2 merchandise-offer cards, including a visible Collector's Buttons issue. The original Impel series comprised a 140-card base set accompanied by related promotional and merchandise material.<br><br>A substantial group of 1992 Impel Star Trek: The Next Generation Inaugural Edition cards is likewise represented, including cards housed within a clear plastic storage case and additional loose stacks. The inaugural Impel release comprised a 120-card base series devoted to the characters, starships, equipment, technology and production world of Star Trek: The Next Generation, making it one of the major early licensed card treatments of the television series.<br><br>The collection further incorporates a sizeable assortment of Batman Returns movie trading cards, with numerous photographic cards and Batman Returns-branded backs visible across several substantial groups. These belong to the extensive trading-card program surrounding the 1992 motion picture, an era that included both Topps and higher-end Stadium Club releases.<br><br>Of particular visual interest is a substantial group of Marvel comic-art cards strongly consistent with the 1992 Comic Images Ghost Rider II series. These cards display the issue's characteristic black borders, dramatic full-color comic imagery and largely text-free fronts.
