Winchester Model 290 .22 Semi-Auto Rifle

Vintage Winchester tube-fed semi-automatic rifle chambered in .22 caliber. We are pretty sure this is the Model 290 Deluxe based on its action, Monte Carlo-style stock and distinctive basket-weave checkering, but the original model marking is not readable. The Model 290 was manufactured during the 1960s and 1970s. Designed to fire .22 Short, Long and Long Rifle ammunition through its tubular magazine. Features open sights, a grooved receiver for mounting an optic, wood stock and matching forearm. No serial number was located during cataloging. Some early examples were manufactured before serial numbers became federally required. Poor to fair used condition. The stock has a substantial crack and chipped area beside the receiver, along with scratches, scuffs, dents and finish wear. The barrel and receiver show heavy finish loss, surface oxidation, pitting and dark patina. The auction company has not test-fired this rifle. Mechanical operation, bore condition and completeness have not been verified. Sold as-is for repair, restoration or parts. Firearm must be transferred through Southern Heirs Auction’s FFL.
