Vintage Iver Johnson Champion single-shot shotgun chambered in 20 gauge. Iver Johnson manufacture is confirmed by the original owl-head buttplate. We are pretty sure this is the Champion model based on its configuration and remaining faint barrel markings, but the model marking is not fully legible. Early to mid-20th-century manufacture. Features a break-open action, external hammer, top release lever, wood stock and forearm, and original Iver Johnson owl-head buttplate. No serial number was found during cataloging. Shows considerable wear appropriate for age, including thinning and loss of the original metal finish, surface oxidation, scratches, dark patina, residue on the barrel, and scratches, dents and discoloration to the wood. The auction company has not test-fired this shotgun. Chamber length, bore condition and suitability for modern ammunition have not been determined. A qualified gunsmith should inspect it before firing. Firearm must be transferred through Southern Heirs Auction’s FFL. A $10 background-check fee applies to local pickup.
