This cast brass single-frame belt buckle is a Confederate pattern featuring a central bar with a movable forked tongue. The consigner has indicated on a handwritten paper tag that the piece was found at Old Wilderness Church,Chancellorsville in 1956. The buckle shows characteristic construction consistent with Civil War era manufacture. The item measures 3.75 by 2.5 inches.Excavated condition with heavy dark patina and surface pitting. The frame is slightly warped. Silver-colored solder repairs are visible on the reverse at the central bar junctions.
