Vintage 1908 Illinois Watch Co. grade 174 model 4 mechanical open-face pocket watch featuring a substantial 16-size base metal case. The interior caseback highlights a circular perlage engine-turned decoration stamped with the signature "PATENTED TRADE MARK" star-in-crescent emblem alongside production case serial number 8459. The original white porcelain enamel railroad-style dial showcases bold painted black Roman numeral hour markers, a detailed outer minute track ring highlighted by red five-minute interval numbers from 5 to 60, blued steel spade-style main hands, a sunken sub-seconds register above the 6 o'clock position, and elegant brand script reading "Illinois Watch Co." The watch houses an American-made, factory-signed manual-wind movement carrying serial number 2075699, a hunting configuration adapted to an open-face setup, a nickel finish with refined damaskeened waves, a lever-setting design, a 3/4 plate layout, and explicit plate engravings reading "Illinois Watch Co. SPRINGFIELD, ILL." and "17 Jewels".This mechanical pocket watch is running as of the time of listing, though a professional service is required for accurate timekeeping, and extended runtime without service is not guaranteed.
