This miniature stoneware advertising jug features a rich brown glaze with delicate yellow lettering promoting "J.H. Smith, Brook Hill, This for Compliments." Thought to represent a custom promotional piece from a local merchant or distiller, this jprovides a fascinating snapshot of late 19th to early 20th-century advertising methods. Its compact size suggests it was likely given as a keepsake or sampler item.
