Vintage novelty toilet-shaped ashtray with an attached rectangular tank. The piece has a creamy white and ivory glaze decorated with hand-painted pink and red flowers, dark green leaves, and yellow and green accents around the base. The raised toilet-seat rim doubles as the ashtray and has a cigarette rest at the front. Black lettering around the rim reads “REST YOUR TIRED ASH.” The underside is marked “© St. Pierre & Patterson 1954” and retains a Japan label, dating the design to the mid-1950s. Made of glazed ceramic or pottery, possibly earthenware, with painted decorations. Dimensions are approximately 5"h x 3 1/4"w x 5"d. Good vintage condition with wear. There is surface discoloration, staining, dirt, residue, and scattered marks consistent with age and use. There are small edge and rim imperfections and general wear. The bottom has grime and discoloration around the foot rim.
