Oil on canvas. Signed lower RH corner and dated 1985. Frame measures 40 1/4" x 40 1/4", canvas measures 36 1/4" x 36 1/4". Jack White (1933-2016) a sixth generation Texan, great grandson of famous Texas Ranger Ben McGee and great, great grandson of Dillard Cooper, one of the few men that escaped the Goliad Massacre. In 1976 Jack was named the Official Artist of Texas by The Texas Legislature, and the following year a street was named after him. He was the first non-law enforcement person to be named honorary Texas Ranger and given a life-membership into the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame. In 2006 Governor Rick Perry named him honoree Admiral in the Texas Navy, an honor bestowed to only a handful of people. He had to put his career on hold when two car thieves fleeing police in a stolen vehicle slammed in to his car, severely injuring his painting arm and shoulder. He then turned to writing and penned eight books that have become a respected road map for those in the art world.
