An earthenware cookie jar produced by the American Bisque Company in the Barnaby Cow design. The piece is finished in a glossy cream-colored glaze with cold-painted red and black accents highlighting the eyes, ears, nostrils, and clothing details. The base features an incised mark in four lines reading DESIGN PATENT 137120 AB . CO. Design patent 137,120 was issued in 1944 to Louise E. Bauer for this specific model.Height: 11.5 inchesBase Width: 5.75 inchesThe cookie jar is in fair vintage condition with significant loss and flaking to the original red and black cold-painted accents, particularly on the ears, snout, and clothing. Fine all-over crazing is present beneath the glaze. Small chips and glaze nicks are visible along the inner rim of the body where the lid rests. The base exhibits typical shelf wear and darkening to the unglazed foot ring. No major cracks or professional repairs are observed.
