Hohner Marine Band 1896 Harmonica

A vintage M. Hohner Marine Band No. 1896 diatonic harmonica in the key of C. This 10-hole instrument is constructed with a wooden comb, brass reed plates, and pinned stainless steel cover plates. The top cover plate is engraved with MARINE BAND, M. Hohner, and hole numbers 1 through 10, featuring a central portrait of Matthias Hohner within a laurel wreath. The reverse side is marked MADE IN GERMANY, M. Hohner, and FABRIQUE EN ALLEMAGNE, along with exhibition medallions for Wien 1873, Ulm 1871, Stuttgart 1881, and PHILAD. 1876 / GR. BRONCE. The central trademark shows two hands holding a circular emblem with a six-pointed star labeled TRADE MARK and GESETZL. GESCH. End plates are stamped A440 and C. The item comes with its original two-piece cardboard presentation box featuring images of the U.S. Marine Band and address details for Hohner offices in Hicksville, New York and Ontario, Canada.Length: 4 inchesThe harmonica is in very good vintage condition.
