Chicago Cutlery cutlery set in its oak block, plus a painted wood harvest pail. The block is solid oak with the Chicago Cutlery name burned into the front and holds six pieces with several slots left open: a wide bladed cook's knife, a slender knife stamped 71S, a second knife stamped C66, two two-tine carving forks stamped 65S, and a Chicago Cutlery sharpening steel with a turned wood handle. The original consignor listing described four knives and one fork, which the photos do not support. Every handle carries the stamped Chicago Cutlery name and brass rivets. The company built its name on high carbon blades with full tangs and hardwood handles, and these older stamped pieces are sought out by cooks. The handles are dry and bleached from washing with one chip at a butt end, and the blades show scratching and light staining but no rust pitting. Also included is a wood pail about 6 1/4 inches tall with a wire bail handle, hand painted with a sunflower, pumpkin and berries on a yellow ground, plastic lined and holding artificial lemons; the base carries a fib Burton and Burton label from Bogart, Georgia, made in China. Condition is good. Blades are sharp; handle with care. Sold as-is. Photos are the most accurate description of this lot. Written descriptions are a guide only and may contain errors. Please review all photos before bidding.
