Three unrelated pieces sold together, led by a fine press medical classic. (1) The Principles and Practice of Medicine by William Osler, the Classics of Medicine Library special edition published by Gryphon Editions in 1978, bound in black leather with gilt stamping and raised bands on the spine, gilt page edges, a ribbon marker and patterned endpapers. Osler is regarded as the father of modern clinical medicine, and this leather bound reissue of his 1892 textbook is a favorite with physicians and book collectors. The binding is tight and square with light rubbing at the corners. (2) A child size enamel plate about 7 inches across with a blue transfer of two boys, one with a fishing pole; the back is marked Kockums Sweden 18 cm, so it is Swedish enamelware, not the Made in Poland piece named in the consignor listing. The rim has heavy chipping down to the dark base metal with crazing and scratching across the face. (3) A polished green marble dish about 4 1/2 inches across with scattered scratches on the underside. Condition is good for the book and fair for the enamel plate. Sold as-is.
