Sako Finnwolf VL63 Lever-Action Rifle — .243 Winchester — Sako Collectors Association Commemorative — No. 36 of 175 Offered here is a rare and highly collectible Sako Finnwolf VL63 lever-action rifle, chambered in .243 Winchester, produced in Finland by Sako. This example is one of only 175 rifles issued to commemorate the founding of the Sako Collectors Association in 1982, and is individually numbered 36 of 175. The commemorative inscription — "COMMEMORATING THE FOUNDING OF THE SAKO COLLECTORS ASSN 1982 36 of 175" — is finished in gold-filled lettering on the blued receiver, along with the model designation "SAKO VL63 No. 13938." The Finnwolf VL63 is itself a scarce and sought-after Sako model, notable as one of the few lever-action rifles ever produced by the Finnish manufacturer, combining Sako's precision bolt-action-era engineering with a smooth, distinctive lever design. This commemorative edition adds significant numismatic and collector value beyond a standard production Finnwolf. Features & Condition Highlights: Caliber: .243 Winchester (barrel stamped "SAKO Cal. .243") Barrel stamped "FINNWOLF — MADE IN FINLAND" Deep, high-luster blued metal finish on barrel and receiver Detachable box magazine, lever-action operation Checkered walnut stock and forend with classic skip-line/point pattern checkering White-line spacers at the pistol grip cap and buttplate for a classic, high-grade presentation Figured walnut grain visible through the buttstock Hooded front sight with adjustable rear sight; drilled and tapped scope bases installed on the receiver Overall bright bore and strong metal-to-wood fit typical of well-preserved Sako commemoratives Why This Piece Matters to Collectors: Sako Finnwolf rifles were manufactured for a relatively short production run, and commemorative editions tied to the Sako Collectors Association's founding are exceptionally scarce on the secondary market. With individual serialization (36/175) and dedicated engraving, this rifle represents both a shooting-grade .243 lever gun and a limited-edition piece of Sako collecting history — an excellent addition to any collection of Finnish firearms, lever-action rifles, or Sako commemoratives.
