The barrel is roll-stamped "Winchester — Trade Mark — Made in U.S.A. — Model 12 — 20 GA. — 2¾ Cham. — Winchester Proof Steel — MOD," confirming its factory chambering and modified choke, and the serial number is stamped clearly on both the barrel breech and receiver, verifying the barrel is correct to the gun. This is an honest, working-grade example that shows real field history. The receiver retains a strong, glossy blue overall but has thinned to a plum/brown patina across the flat behind the ejection port from years of carry and handling, and a small owner's mark has been hand-scratched into the receiver — visible both on the exterior flat and inside the breech face — along with additional marking etched into the loading port. The walnut stock and grooved slide handle show scattered small dings and handling marks consistent with age and use, but both retain good, solid wood with no cracks. The bore and action function smoothly, with the slide cycling and locking up as it should. A genuine, Winchester Model 12 in the sought-after 20 gauge — a great project or shooter-grade piece for the collector who wants a real, honestly-worn example of Winchester's classic slide-action rather than a safe-queen.
