Pedersen's classic slide-action .22 for Remington — the Model 12, produced from 1909 through 1936 and one of the most successful pump-action rimfire rifles of its era. The barrel is clearly roll-marked "Remington Trade Mark — 22 REM. SPECIAL" along with the full manufacturer's address, "REMINGTON ARMS-UNION METALLIC CARTRIDGE CO., REMINGTON WORKS, ILION, N.Y., U.S." and the complete string of Pedersen's original patent dates (Jan. 5, 1909; Oct. 12, 1909; Mar. 8, 1910; Nov. 21, 1911; Apr. 16, 1912) — the same slide-action patents that underpinned Remington's early 20th-century pump gun lineup. This example is chambered for .22 Remington Special, a higher-velocity rimfire round ballistically interchangeable with the .22 WRF, making it a bit less common on the secondary market than the standard .22 Short/Long/Long Rifle Model 12-A. The rifle features Remington's smooth solid-frame slide action with a large oval loading/ejection port on the right side of the receiver, a grasping-groove walnut slide handle, and a tubular magazine housed beneath the round barrel, complete with the knurled takedown knob and magazine cap at the muzzle end used to disassemble the rifle for cleaning or transport. The straight-grip walnut buttstock is fitted with a steel buttplate and shows a pleasant, deepening patina consistent with age. The receiver carries a serial number stamped into the receiver ring, along with a small "RW" property or inspection stamp directly above it — an interesting bit of added history for the next owner to research. Bluing remains intact overall with expected thinning at handling points, and the markings throughout — caliber designation, Remington script logo, manufacturer's address, and patent dates — are crisp and fully legible. An affordable, historically significant piece for collectors of early American slide-action .22 rifles, Remington rimfire arms, or John Pedersen–designed firearms — the Model 12 played a foundational role in Remington's pump-gun heritage and remains a favorite among collectors assembling
