Winchester Model 1895 Lever-Action Rifle — .30 U.S. (.30-40 Krag) Offered here is an antique Winchester Model 1895 lever-action rifle, chambered in .30 U.S. Army (.30-40 Krag). The Model 1895 was the first Winchester lever-action designed around a box (non-tubular) magazine, allowing it to safely handle pointed, smokeless-powder military cartridges — a landmark engineering advance for John Browning's final lever-gun design for Winchester. This example carries the desirable early "flat-side" receiver profile favored by collectors of the pre-1936 Winchester lever guns.
