Savage Model 99 Solid Frame (Non-Takedown) Variant — .250-3000 Savage Caliber A fine example of one of America's most collectible sporting lever-actions, the Savage Model 99 in the classic .250-3000 Savage chambering. Overview Offered here is a Savage Arms Corporation Model 99 non-takedown rifle, manufactured in Utica, New York, USA, and chambered in the historically significant .250-3000 Savage cartridge — the first commercial round to achieve 3,000 feet per second, developed by Charles Newton specifically for this rifle. Serial number places manufacture in the mid-1930s within the well-documented serial range produced between the early 1920s and 1940. Key Features Hammerless lever-action design with Savage's famous rotary magazine, allowing safe use of spitzer (pointed) bullets — a major innovation for its era Barrel address roll-marked "SAVAGE ARMS CORPORATION / UTICA, N.Y. — MADE IN U.S.A." along with "HI-PRESSURE STEEL — PROOF TEST'D" Receiver clearly marked "SAVAGE MODEL 99" with caliber designation ".250-3000 SAVAGE" stamped on the barrel Blued steel barrel and receiver with an attractive, deepening case-colored patina on the lever and trigger guard Checkered walnut stock and forearm with pistol grip, in overall solid condition with honest age and handling wear consistent with a well-used sporting rifle Original rubber recoil pad Front ramp sight and rear notch sight, both present and intact Visible serial number stamping on the receiver/barrel shank Condition Notes This rifle shows honest wear typical of a vintage hunting arm from the 1930s: mellowed bluing with patches of thinning and light surface oxidation to the metal, a walnut stock with a warm, aged finish, some scattered handling marks, and a stock line/gap visible at the forend-to-receiver junction.
