Model: Ultra Wildcat Caliber: .222 Remington Approximate Manufacture Date: 1970–1975 Action Type: Bolt-action, single-shot/sporter configuration Stock: Checkered walnut, Monte Carlo-style sporter stock with pistol grip Description Up for auction is a vintage Harrington & Richardson Ultra Wildcat bolt-action rifle, chambered in the classic varmint cartridge .222 Remington. Manufactured by the historic H&R firearms company of Worcester, Massachusetts, this rifle dates to the early-to-mid 1970s production era, making it a genuine piece of American sporting-arms history and a strong addition to any vintage bolt-action or H&R collection. The rifle features a well-figured checkered walnut stock with a Monte Carlo comb, pistol grip, and diamond-pattern point checkering on both the forend and grip — hallmarks of quality sporter-rifle craftsmanship from this period. The stock shows honest handling wear consistent with age, including light scuffs, a few small dings, and gentle finish wear, but remains solid and presentable with no cracks noted in the photographs. The barrel and receiver retain the majority of their original blued finish, with the "ULTRA WILDCAT" model designation and "H&R Cal. .222 Rem." markings clearly legible on the barrel. The receiver is stamped "HARRINGTON & RICHARDSON, INC. WORCESTER, MASS. U.S.A." along with the model/serial designation "L461 No. 123867." The rifle wears drilled-and-tapped scope-mount bases on the receiver bridge and ring, and retains its original adjustable open sights. The action cycles smoothly, with a clean bolt face, knurled bolt knob, and functioning trigger guard/floorplate. A black buttplate with white-line spacer completes the classic sporter profile.
